Winchester model 94 in 30-30

Winchester model 94 30-30

Winchester model 94 30-30

With a Williams aperture sight it is plenty accurate enough to bag a bunny or up to muleys and beyond. Powerful enough to put down most North American predators. I consider it to be an ideal urban assault rifle because its fast
handling and does not create undue concern like a "black" rifle.

30-30

I have a Marlin in .30 WCF and also in a M24V Savage (30-30/20ga). Both are fantastic hunting rifles with jacketed, or in the case of my rifles, with cast bullets.

Around here (PNW) 30-30's are used for deer, bear and elk, even small game. A large number of elk are killed every year around my house with 30-30's. I swear the 170gr Remington factory has killed more game around here than just about anything else.

As a survival rifle it would be a dandy since it would hardly draw a second glance. It is normal to see a 30-30 in a rifle rack of about any truck.

Buy adding a plastic stock kit to my rifle i now have storage in my buttstock for extra ammo, pull- through, flint rod, pocket knife and small torch. I decided to mount a quick detachable scope mount using a side mount configuration so if the need arrises i can quickly gain access to the weapons iron sights should the 1-4x20 leupold scope ever fail or lose zero.
The 16" barrel makes the Winny light, pointable and suprisingly accurate.
Lets face it, you can buy or gain access to "thutty-thutty" ammo anywhere so "procuring" more ammo should be less of a problem than most other calibres.

I am a big fan of the Marlin 336 in 30 30. It is the only deer rifle i own. But it is not light - it weights 8 pounds with a 3-9 scope. and it takes work to chamber rounds, and you need to be careful to avoid the Marlin jam problem.

Kinda of wish I would have bought a Marlin 1894 in 357 magnum, much more versatile, in my opinion, when coupled with the 38 special option.

Winchester 1894 in 3030

What else do you need to say when the rifle has been used for over a hundred years? 30-30 is a great round for self defense, medium to large game hunting. Light weight, ease to aim and maneuver through brush.

The Winchester model 94 in 30-30 is a good choice for most situations. Ammo is in most places that sell ammo, even in remote general stores. The rifle will reach out beyond the shotgun and has a reputation for being durable, light weight and easy to use.
Like most tube fed magazines these guns do have safety concerns for the user who is not familiar with them. The cartridges have to be cycled through the chamber one at a time when unloading and if the operator not cautious they could have a accidental discharge.
