Hurricane Season officially begins on June 1 and ends on November
30. The vast majority of Hurricanes and tropical storm
activity however, occurs between August and early October, with
the first week in September generally considered the
peak. If you live in, or plan to travel to this
part of the world when it is hurricane season, you should take
neccessary precautions.
Q: How is
hurricane strength measured ?
A: Hurricane strength is measured
using the Saffir-Simpson scale. This scale categorizes
hurricane intensity as 1 through 5
based on sustained windspeed.
