Self Vacuum packing

by Charles
(Malta, Europe)

I suggest (for those who might have at hand) vacuuming nuts and seeds such as Hazelnuts, walnuts, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, watermelon seeds, cantaloupe seeds after they've been dried, even biscuits, cereals and dry fruits. Vacuuming preserves most dry foods for a long time if properly vacuumed ( this you will know when vacuum bag is rock hard) Actually I always leave a supply of vacuumed stuff (locked in metal boxes)to keep any rodent visitor that might invade from getting to them at my summer boathouse. Of course I renew them every year though.
