Savage model 24s..22lr/20gauge

by Rich
(Pittsburgh,,,PA)

This is a combo 22lr and 20 gauge shotgun..The neat think about mine is its take down feature..Open the action up,lower a small lever and the forearm comes off then just lift the double barrels off the action..Takes about five seconds.

It will easily fit in a backpack when broke down..For aquiring food in the woods having a 22lr and a 20gauge all in one rifle is probably the best tools you could have....

Even more versatile
by: Anthony Twidale

The savage 24 could also be used for breaching purposes to gain entry into locked doors/rooms/bunkers or even blow apart boobytraps.
You could easily load up some "non-lethal" shot should you want to merely discourage an overly-curious stranger from hanging around your safezone/stores/(daughters!), and shot will reach through scrub and bushes to secure a feed wether it be a pidgeon or tarmegon in low scrub or something swaying right up there in the top of a tree on a windy day.
.22's on their own are great, but not everything sits in profile and waits patiently for you to plug it. A shotgun barrel stuck underneath will increase your chances of getting a feed substantially.
I have a savage 24C (20" carbine) in .22mag/20g with parkerized barrels that will shoot 20g solids within 3" at 75yards, more than enough gun for deer, boar, and cattle.

Great combo gun
by: Saltydog

I think this is perhaps the best combination possible. Easy to breakdown with two great calibers to choose from. I will probably add this to my collection of survival guns.

Bushmaster M4 w/ ACOG
Rossi M92 SS .357
Browning Buckmark. 22
Remington 597 .22
Sig 228 9mm
River 380 LCP

savage 24c
by: Anonymous

It is a 22 over 20ga with a 19 inch barrel. extra ammo in the stock., take down into a soft case.
I think it is a great item for survival although I have not shot it. I have a 20 ga to 44 mag insert and a box of 5 slugs to add to it's utility.

1 of the best
by: mep

this type of firearm is one of the best for wilderness suvival situation, ok 22lr is not powerfull to kill big animal but in a survival situation it's ease to kill small one, time prove 22lr is one of best for that and for eating you don't have to explode your lunch whit a bigger caliber + 20 gauge shot gun whit the appropriate ammo can kil flying duck ,running rabbit, turkey,
deer and offer good firepower protection

good choice

Sounds like a great gun
by: LarryT

This sounds like a great gun. I can remember back in the 80s, there being 410/22lr combo. I have never seen a 20 gauge. This gun sounds good for small game and bird.
