Quick Clot

I keep a small pack of quick clot sport in my first aid kit in the trunk of my car, and carry one with me when I go into the woods. Most off the shelf first aid kits don't come with quick clot. I've never had to use it, and hope I don't have to, but for 10 or 12 bucks, it gives me some peace of mind. I put more thought into my first aid kit these days now that I have kids, I think before that all I had was some band-aids, a bandage or two and some antibiotic cream.
Quick clot is designed to stop severe life threatening bleeding fast. Its not a replacement for medical care as soon as you can get it, but it can help stop the bleeding until you can get help. Just about everyone is exposed to the potential of a severe laceration daily, even its its just driving an automobile.
I think this used to be only available to first responders / military personnel, but has been available to the general public for some time now. They also make a version specifically for pets, (petclot - $15) might be a good thing to have on hand for your best friend.
I'd be curious to hear from anyone who has ever used quick clot to treat a wound.
