NEF Handi Rifle .223

Handi Rifle (.223)

I own a H&R Handi Rifle and i think its great. Its very accurate and although its barrel weight can be a bit hefty after a long day of hiking it makes for absolutely no recoil and no over heating. A good gun for varmints, plinkering, or survival.

I read the comment on the .223 Handi-Rifle and have to agree with the fact that it is a great gun. However, it is not what comes to mind when the term "survival rifle" is mentioned. A survival rifle is one like the Henry AR7, or the Springfield M6. One that is light (all excess weight removed), multi-tasking (.22 over .410), shorter barrels (18.5 inch to allow for the .410 shotgun to be legal), and can be modified, to a point, to carry other survival gear. i.e. with no fore stock, wrapping the barrels with para-550 cord, using one of the .410 shell holders to put a small tube with matches or some fire starting tool. And it's able to carry extra ammo in the stock. That's my idea of a "survival rifle". One that you can survive with.
Unfortunately Springfield no longer manufactures the M6. Maybe if Survival-Gear-Guide were to put a bug in H&R's or Savage's ears they might start producing one to fill that much needed void.
