MY ESEE JUNGLAS

by ronin923
(Liberty,ny)

I've owned and carried many different types and styles of survival blades, from a Buck #124 "Frontiersman", to an original Buck #184 "Buckmaster". I've used a Al Mar "Pathfinder" and 4 different Becker Blades, the "Companion", the "Brute",
the "Magnum Camp" and the Tac tool. I've tried 2 blades from Relentless knives and recently the Browning model #686 Extreme Duty. All of these were good tools, some better then others, but none of them filled my requirements. After acquiring an ESEE Junglas and taking it on a few adventures, as well as using it in the accompanying "yard work" photos, I can say that this is the most comfortable, hard working blade I've been fortunate enough to own. While it's a bit big as a survival knife, it more then makes up for it's size with it's sheer utility. While I don't generally carry it on my belt, I don't leave for the woods without it strapped to my pack. The only modifications I've made is wrapping the sheath with paracord. I do carry a sheath knife, a Randall model #25 Trapper at the moment, (Got it for Christmas!!) and a folding knife, a Microtech Lightfoot L.C.C.. This is my go-to Stuff and so far it all works for me.

Nice Blades
by: Jack Flinstone

Looks like a knife anyone, especially me, would love to have. I love knives but I didn't get the bug bad enough to spend more on a blade than a firearm. About how much would a knife like that set you back? I guess a simple google search will let me know that - just did $179 + $5 shipping. That wasn't as much as I thought it was going to be. Hmmmmm?

Like Anonymous, my field knife is still my plain old USMC K-Bar that I used through my army days (5th Group) in the early 1980's and likewise, it has a sheath decorated with paracord. It's kept it's edge a lot better than I have. A K-Bar is a lot of knife for those on a tighter budget (~$50), you can't go wrong.

I'm glad you finally found your perfect knife. It looks like perfection and I have no doubt you could build a cabin with it. Good for you and thanks for sharing.

piece of art
by: Amico

I can only agree on all this with ronin.
The Junglas is an awesome knife.
I actually consider it a tough short sword.
But much more diverse in its tasks than a sword.
It can do so many utility tasks.

It's art and practial at the same time.
Poetry in motion.

Nice Blade
by: Anonymous

Amazing what a good blade can do...that looks like you can build a cabin with it. I have a Marine K-Bar that I have had since I was in the Army in the early 1980's that is still going strong...of course I have the sheath with a nice length of paracord attached! I will have to google that name (Esee Junglas) and see what comes up; I have never heard of it. Good post!
