my cx4 berretta storm .45 acp

by Sonny

beretta cx4 storm

beretta cx4 storm

Beretta cx4 Storm:
This gun is accurate up to 100yds but in reality was made for 50yds and closer. It only weighs 6lbs with a 2x red dot and sling. For a side arm I carry the ruger p90 decocker in .45acp. If I ever find myself in a real bad situation I think this pair will help me find my way out!!!

Good NOT Great Choice NEW
by: TNJohn

I was reading Mitch's comments below and I would guess he is an armchair quarterback. He's certainly not in the real world. The 45 ACP is a great weapon against humans but normally a poor hunting caliber. However coming out of an 16 inch barrel a Cor Bon 165gr JHP +P has around 560+ft/lbs energy and a velocity of around 1440 at the muzzle, it will slightly better a 44mag Speer Gold Dot 200 gr out of a 4 inch barrel. This will definitely put deer on the table at a reasonable distance. With this semiauto and quick follow-up shots you should have no problems providing you can put the round where you want it to go.
The Beretta CX4 Storm is a well made weapon and should be reliable enough for this purpose. Or maybe Mitch doesn't think a 4" 44 mag is not a serious weapon either. I would be willing to bet Mitch would take a CX4 Storm in 9mm if it was all he could get his hands on in an emergency. Just my thoughts.

well rounded choice
by: Garrett

Going to let my nerd out for a minute here, i want one of these because its the rifle the space marines carry in Battlestar Galactica. Back to serious business though, this gun would be a good choice i think, the .45 in a carbine length weapon (thompson submachine gun anyone?) carried many of our grandfathers through quite a few battles so one could reason this would be a formidable defense weapon that is light enough not to hamper your everyday movement, and enough cartridge to drop a variety of game. And the commonality between main and side arms caliber is a huge plus i have to admit. also this may be a great choice to arm one of the smaller members of your family, who may not be up to wielding a moist Nugget 91/30!

Has its place
by: Fed

I have not used one of these weapons in a real situation. However, a few years ago I was at a training class located at the Beretta factory in Accokeek and we shot the Cx4.

Our class did not shoot it farther than 50 yards but it was dead on. I enjoyed shooting it.

I believe in using whats available and comfortable. Become an expert with what you have.

Good choice
by: Carl Rooker

What weapon you have for a survival weapon is going to depend on several factors. High power and high capacity are not the only factors to consider.

The .45 round was made to be a large, slow bullet that deposits a very large amount of energy into it's target, instead of just passing through and making a hole. This round was invented for pistols with a short barrel length (2 to 4 inches). In the 16 inch barrel of this gun the energy in the bullet is far greater than in the pistol.

Having a carbine and a pistol that use the same amunition is a very wise choice. Not only will you have to carry less ammo, but if one of the guns break, you have an instant back up.

Another nice feature of this gun is that you can put a red dot scope on it, and still use the original sights through the scope. If the scope does not work for some reason, you do not have to modify the gun at all to shoot well.

Yes, the AK's and the AR 15's have their place, but so does this gun.

Shut up Mitch
by: Buzz

The .45 out of a 16 inch barrel not good enough for you Mitch? Stand down range big guy. We're talking survival rifles here. The Storm will certainly put meat on the table. Easy on the ears and the shoulder. Commonality of rounds with the side arm. Great choice.

I like it

I have the same gun. Have not had a chance to use it much, but is seems to be a reliable, accurate gun.

It's limitations are the small cap mags, but you can always carry more.

For close quarters defense, and some limited hunting it should do fine.

(My companion to this gun is a Kimber .45.)
