I bought the Mossberg 500 persuader for home protection and if I ever need to defend my castle or family in a crisis situation. Good firepower with 8 shell capacity. Reliable. Mine is loaded with 00 buckshot.

One might consider using #1 Buck over the more common 00 Buck. There one has 20 pellets with a diameter of .30 as opposed to 9 pellets at .33 diameter. That is a world of difference in a close combat situation.

My Mossburg is my "backup survival gun" only because of ammo availability, price, and weight. It sits back seat to my 10/22 ONLY for that reason. I keep plenty of ammo for both in the house (and a several types for my Mossy) I can carry 1000 rounds for my ruger with no problem but cant do that for a 12ga...

Mine has a 19" barrel, an extended mag tube that hold 8 rounds, a butt stock ammo carrier with 5 extra rounds, and fire sights. I keep it right next to my bed 'just in case'.

When police Officers feel the need for more than a well-stoked 9mm, they always Grab their 12 gauge. Why?
__ FBI stats confirm that most shootouts occur at 7 yards or less (21 feet!).
__ Even at short range, officers prefer one "point & click" weapon with a wide pattern to quickly disable any challengers.
