Mosin-Nagant 91-30

Mosin Nagant M91-30

Mosin Nagant M91-30

I have 2 Mosin-Nagant 91-30's. 1 is an ex Dragoon Ishy from 1927, the other is a Tula 91-30 both are hex recievers. 1 model 1938 and 1 a model 44 made in 1945. I have several other models of other surplus rifles but have found that the mosin-nagant is overall generaly most acceptable for all that I need a rifle for due to it's low cost (rifle and ammo). makes it more useful in maintaining my shooting skills. I have also had good accuracy from all mosins that I have fired. For someone looking to enter the military surplus rifle market this is probably the best bolt action rifle for the money at this time but I expect the prices will rise in the near future for both the rifles and current surplus ammunition.

Mosin Nagant M91/30

this is a PU sniper version

this is a PU sniper version

i have a 1943 izhevsk Mosin Nagant in 7.62x54r. mine has a 4x24 PSOP Russian scope side mounted on the receiver.
these rifle maybe be larger than an SKS but they handle well and have great balance. the run about $70 most places. the ammo is some of the cheapest surplus out there right now. there so easy a child could learn to use one in about 5 min, the gun is self-explanatory. the action is reliable and extremely simple. the round is more than enough for about anything you will encounter. it comes with a cleaning kit and mag pouch and a bayonet maybe 15" long.
id get 2 or 3 and 2000 rounds and pack it away. there also carbine versions available, but some cant take the recoil it produces.
maybe the best thing about the SKS and the 91/30 over the AK's and AR's is that they don't take mags. when the SHTF you cant place and order online for some surplus magazines. these guns use stripper clips which are lighter and less bulky meaning you can carry alot of them. if you lose them all you can still hand load 5 or 10 rounds.

Russian Mosin Nagant Model M91/30

by Robert B.
(Longmont, CO, USA)

It's fairly long, but is excellent as a hunting rifle. Chambered in the 7.62x54R, it has enough power to take down a moose (it is commonly used for this purpose in Russia). It is a bolt action platform with simple operation and disassembly which makes for easy field maintenance. I have mine set up with an ATI Monte Carlo stock, a Harris Bipod, a Wolff 30# firing pin spring, a Huber Concepts trigger, an I.O. Inc adapter rail with Russian POSP Dragunov scope, Mojo Microclick Sights, and an AK-74 style muzzle break custom fit and welded in place. It's accurate to a good distance and perfect for taking down an elk in the cold fall elk season of the rocky mountains.
