Megellan Sport Track Map

I LOVE this little Megellan Sport Track Map. When I was in Iraq I found it much more user friendly than the others were finding their Garmin Rinos. Of course that may be because I used it for every purpose for a year before going over there. I down loaded a map of Iraq and Kuait and it was indensible. The Sport Track Map uses something like 10 different coordination systems, including the Military Grid Reference System. I've use the back light for land nav at night. I didn't go ANYWHERE without my M16 and my Megellan. It stood up well to 130 degree heat, freezing cold wet, and undescribeable dust. Something I found convient in the middle of a war was that it used AA batteries, which are one of the most common batteries around. I made sure that my digital camera, flash light, emergency strobe and commo all used AAs. If my GPS ran down I could readily replace the batteries.
I've used it while cropdusting to fly from dirt strip to dirt strip that I pre entered with waypoints. It can help me figure out the lenght and width of the fields I'm dusting, and even though it isn't meant for aerial navigation, in an emergency I can enter "Nearest airport" and it will give me a choice of the ten nearest and get me there. It will show me distance to go, bearing to, direction from, ETA ETE, ground speed and even my altitude. It can be set to operate in MPH, KPH or knots. It is almost an entire instrument panel in itself!
It has a feature that will leave bread crumb trails that, when hiking or on horse back, will get you back home the way you came.
Draw backs? Really deep woods seems to mess with the reception but that is probably true of most if not all GPSs.
I tell you what. I've had this GPS for six years now and have had NO problems with it. In a SHTF situation my Megellan Sport Track Map is one of the first things I grab. I've trusted the Megellan Sport Track Map with my life and would again.
