I see marlin model 60 as the ultimate survival rifle as it is proven, sturdy, stainless all weather barrel and has no magazines to lose or get damaged tromping around in a true survival situation. The little rifle is light, semi-automatic and deadly accurate out to 50yds with enough power to kill anything under 20 pounds with a descently placed shot. You can not fail with this rifle and it surprises me to see all the 10/22 fans or all the fans of "clip" fed raw, survival rifles. What happens when you lose or damage the mag?
The Marlin model 60 especially the stainless variant is the only way to go. 15 round fed through a tubular magazine under the barrel. People may say what about when you lose the spring rod for the magazine... Well, you don't and should not remove it to reload you just back it out and drop the rounds through the bullet shaped portal and you have 15 rounds as quick as you can pull the trigger. It is a no brainer to me.
