yes the kel-tec su-16 offer good possibly ,you can ease kill mediun animal whit 223 caliber or make long shot on small one for eating ,the 223 offer good fire power at a lower price(ammo) for personnal protection and it's ease to pack, a good shoter can kill a moose whit this caliber and make a lot of meat for a lot of people but the bigger problem whit a rifle in wilderness survival situation ( and is not really a problem) is to hunt flying bird or duck ok some say don't hunt this type of animal but in a wilderness survival situation you need food and water and the best place for that in the wilderness is a lake or a river so you can drink,go fishing and hunt because all animal need to drink and a lot of us eat and live around lake,ex: duck or goose + emergency signal is easy to see when the place is clean like lake shore but I approve the choice of the kel-tec su-16 it's a good one
