Kabar 1207 hunting knife
This is my old Kabar 1207 hunting knife. I borrowed it from my brother about 25 years ago, and it just keeps slipping my mind to return it. This is one of the toughest knives I've ever "owned"... It has been treated like a rented mule, as you can tell by looking at it, but it still performs as well as it ever has. Its been a great rough use knife for camping / working. I guess they don't make a kabar 1207 anymore, so I cant replace it with a new one. The only reason I would need to buy a new 1207 would be to return it to my brother in the condition I originally borrowed it in !
Most of the surface rust on the blade is because it spent an entire winter at the bottom of my woodpile. I figured it was lost forever, but early in the next spring I picked up a log, and there she was. I took some oil and steel wool to the blade and got the rust off, but the scars remain. What the hell, it gives it character. This knife is a survivor ! It still takes a great edge, and I never go into the woods without it.
I'm sold on Kabar, they make a great product and the 1207 is no exception. Becker knife and tool joined with Kabar back in 2007, I'm thinking when I finally decide to retire my 1207, I'll have to get a Becker, they are pretty awesome looking knives.
