What a great weapon ,it is cheap to shoot .308 cal, short barrel, low maintenance, and has a bayonet and sling. Got it for buck fifty, good for all around shooting and defense. It has a flash hider and parkerized finish, no thrills package.. tigertank.

My alltime favorite has and will always be my FR8 I let go of years ago. Shot well, loaded quick with a clip, always loved carbines.

These rifles (while they can do so until you blow your face off) will shoot 7.62 nato and .308 Win but they were NEVER designed to do so as the actions are both too soft.
The FR7 is the weakest of the two and was quickly replaced with the FR8.
Both these rifles were only intended to fire the 7.62 CETME cartridge (sort of a low powered .308)and any gunsmith worth his salt will tell you NOT to shoot either of the full powered 7.62 mm rounds through this gun.
Mind you, if you took a hit from a CETME cartridge in the guts you would'nt know the difference between it and a full blown .308
Originally designed as a training rifle so spanish troops could learn to shoot and train with a slower bolt action with the same sights as the semi-auto military rifle to save ammo. They were also considered to be a REMF weapon to be used buy artillery and services troops behind the front lines.
Still, from personal experiance i can tell you the short, stout barrel while being incredably loud, is also extreamly accurate.

Yeah, thats a deal. You wont find them for that price anymore. When you say .308 I guess you mean 7.62 NATO ? I think I've read somewhere that the .308 winchester is a little hotter than the military 7.62 round that this mauser was re-chambered to. I have yugoslavian M48 and Swedish Mausers, dont have this rifle.. Better add it to the list.
