Don't forget bargaining chips

I have a few things that people may want to add to their "Go-Bag's". Mine is typical to most. It's located in my pick up truck locked and secure in the back. I carry an extra car battery, and cable hook ups for an external power source. Also is a small wheel barrow, you never know when you'll never to move all these heavy items you normally couldn't carry. A few "Luxuries" I carry is Liquor, whiskey and vodka. These will not only calm your nerves at night and keep you warm, but can also be used to trade items with someone else. You'll be surprised how many people will do anything for a drink when disaster hits.

not a bad idea...

...but for different reasons. alcohol while it does make it a good item for trade and to keep around, its not for the reasons you think.

In an emergency situation, you need to be prepared to deal with traumatic injuries. Alcohol makes a cheap and decently effective antiseptic and painkiller. It will do you more harm than good if your trying to stay warm. Sure you FEEL warm, but as Mark pointed out, it thins the blood as well as dehydrates your body.

I'd say keep some strong whiskey around, but don't use it for regular consumption. If someone gets hurt and you have to fix them up, clean the wound and let them have a drink, as long as you know how to control hemorrhage, the thinner blood will be a minor issue compared to the initial injury.

Liquor thins the blood no way it keeps you warm. The last thing you want to be in a survival situation is drunk. You are correct in one thing though they will Do anything for a drink including knocking your drunk ass off and loading the liquor into your wheelbarrow.
