while I have several, Like magazines and ammo, u can never have enough! My primary is The Cold Steel Recon Scout. I like different knives for different issues, but this one thus far is the best. It is short enough to stay thick up to the point. This protects the knife from breaking the point off under stress. The Recon scout has a kraton rubber handle that is rugged and very grippy. The best attribute is the blade thickness. The blade is so thick that you can almost us it as a HAMMER! This is the closest production made knife I have been able to find to a real Randell. It is strong, thick, heavy(this is one place where heavy is good) large, very rugged and very sharp. Just like all good survival gear, gear without training or a knowledge of how to use it can be as much a liability as a tool. Especially when it comes to blades, one must have a good working knowledge of the tool or it can be dangerous. I tend to stick with larger blades. doing small jobs with a big knife can be tedious, but with good attributes it can be effective. The other side of that coin is that doing large jobs with a small knife not only require special knowledge or skill, but you are likely to fail or even injure yourself in the process. This is why I carry multiples, in many cases(knives, fire, ammo, food and water)redundancy is your friend. Double up on EVERYTHING that means your life.
