cold steel carbonV recon scout
First of all I like the flat ground blade, also its a easy blade to keep sharp. Its a 7 1/2 inches long blade, and its 5/16s thick. It has a kraton rubber handle which absorbs the shock of chopping, it has a awesome secure sheath that keeps the knife secure on my side. To me its one of the strongest knife I ever used. Don't get me wrong as much as I like the recon scout I have others, each are useful applications, I also have his big brother in the san mai3, and then another recon scout in the carbon? Made at a different time its a touch different, I keep that one in the box, just in case something happens to "old faithful" but so far it never let me down, and by performance I feel its one of the strongest 7 1/2 inch blades. Like all quality tools I treat it right the carbon needs to be oiled after use, which is the minimal care I have to do. But for the minimal care, it performs excellently for me, and when I'm battoning through logs I squirt some oil on it and it just splits the logs easier. As far as I'm concerned I have the best, I just wish cold steel still made the carbonV, but I do have the other recon in the box, and as far as wear and tear is concern I don't see how I could go through two knives in my life time the way their made. There are few still out there, but not at what I paid for them
