Cold Steel Bushman

by Wayne B.
(Clarksville, TN)

It has a hollow handle that is one piece with the 10 inch blade. The hollow handle allows it to be mounted to a shaft for extended reach or to be thrown as a spear. It comes with a sheath that has a pocket large enough to carry quite a few survival items. By wrapping 550 paracord around the handle the user has a nonslip grip and the paracord can be separated and used for fishing line, snares or to build a shelter. It might be worth your while to make it part of your stock. I am very pleased with mine.

good knife
by: Carl Rooker

This is a good basic knife.

One point about making a spear (mind the pun) is that a spear is not always for throwing. They can be thrown, but the best way to use a spear (especially in self defense mode) is to use it as a jabbing weapon, and the blunt end as a staff/ club. Don't throw the weapon or you will probably lose it.

If you absolutely need a throwing spear, then use a wooden point that is tempered in fire, or use pieces of metal, glass, bone, or stone for the spear head. Then you do not lose or damage your knife.

..and not to mention you can own one for under $20 bucks. I like the hollow handle, not sure how good I'd be chucking a spear, but I like the idea of trying it ! Cold Steel makes good stuff for the money.
