NEF Handi Rifle
Affordable Toughness and
Accuracy
|

|
|
The NEF Handi Rifle, manufactured
by Harrington and Richardson is definitely worth a look. If
you are looking for big bore knockdown power at an affordable
price, this might be the survival rifle for you. Harrington and
Richardson was acquired by Marlin in 2000, and then in 2007,
Marlin was acquired by Remington. So that now makes H&R
and New England Firearms the property of Remington. |

NEF Handi
Rifle
The simple single shot Handi Rifle is available as a
Rifle, a Rifle/shotgun combo, or a rifle/slug gun combo in a huge
selection of calibers. There is also a "NEF Survivor" version
chambered in .223 or .308, or if you prefer a .45 / .410 combo
gun. (Shown below)

Aftermarket accessories are not as easy to come across
as accessories for a 10/22 for example, but there are some stock
options available to dress up the less than exciting factory
finish. The varmint stock shown below is made by Choate machine
and tool in Arkansas, and comes with a built in bipod. It
will fit all H&R and NEF single shot rifles and shotguns with the
exception of the 10ga and the slug barrels.

Another good choice among the many variants of the handi
rifle is the "superlight compact." It weighs in at just 5 1/3
lbs, almost 2 lbs lighter than the standard Handi rifle, and is just 33
inches long compared the usual 38" offering. If you are going to
be carrying a rifle around for any period of time, size and weight are
factors that must be considered.
The single shot capacity is a drawback for most zombie
hunters, but if you just want to put some meat over the campfire, the
NEF Handi rifle will take care of business, and actually some of us
like the challenge of having to get it right with one shot.
