Kel-Tec Sub2000
9mm & 40S&W in a folding survival rifle. |
 |
Probably the biggest thing the Kel-Tec Sub2000 has
going for it as a survival rifle is its compact size and light
weight when folded. The entire weapon fits inside a 16" x 7"
area, and weighs just 4 lbs. Folding and
unfolding do not require any tools, simply push the trigger
guard forward to unlock the barrel and forarm and swing it
back. It can then be locked into the folded position
using a provided key. The other pretty nice
feature, is the broad assortment of versions available. The
9mm version is designed to hold the following magazines: Glock 17,
Glock 19, S&W 59, Beretta 92, and SIG 226. The 40S&W
versions will accept magazines from Glock 22, S&W 4006, Beretta
96, and SIG 226.
Polymers are used in
the stock and frame to reduce cost
and weight, and improve durability. The fluorescent
front sight is easily acquired and fully adjutable for windage and
elevation, and the rear sight is an apature type peep sight. 9mm
and 40S&W pistol rounds really dont have the knockdown or penetration
power to protect you from a grizzly bear, but should be adequate
for most other purposes. Can be purchased for around $300
~ 7 different
models in 2 differnt calibers.
