They might be the ugliest rifle on the planet, but the Arisaka has one of the strongest actions of any firearm ever made.
In fact when 'pressure tested' after the war, along with all other milsurp rifles of WWII, it was found that this pearl of the orient was the ONLY rifle action that couldn't be overloaded and destroyed!
In a SHTF situation surely being able to use a similar powder type or varied powder charge with far less chance of blowing you face and hands off by either over-pressure or under-pressure could only be a good thing?
The take-down feature of this particular weapon only adds to it's portability and........(collectors scream in horror)!!!... if you re-barrelled it to a more popular calibre the ammo availability question gets answered as well. Plus it just looks hella-cool.
