1903A3 U.S. Rifle by Remington

My wife gave me this rifle for some birthday or another and while other rifles have come and gone, this one stayed.
The 03A3 was the last iteration of the fabled M1903 springfield, made for ease of manufacture. This meant that some parts, formerly milled were now formed from stamped steel. The trigger guard, bands, swivels and the like are pressed steel. None of this makes a tinker's damn as far as accuracy and serviceability go. The rifle was also improved by the addition of an aperture sight on the back of the receiver bridge. This made for a longer sight radius and quicker target acquisition.
My rifle was made by Remington, with a four groove barrel marked 1943. It is a SHOOTER! Using the 30-06 round it will put down anything on the north american continent if you do your part and is virtually unbreakable. Many of these were unfortunatly converted to "sporters". The stock configuration 03A3, if you can find one is the way to go. Heavy, but absurdly accurate and reliable which are the two qualities I look for in something I'm going to bet my life on.
